Entrepreneurial Vision:

The AGL Tiles founder’s success story is one of determination, persistence and dynamic leadership that standout as an inspiration to the youth of today.

Born in 1970 at Idar, Mr. Kamlesh Patel’s father Dr. Bhaghubhai Punjabhai Patel wanted his son to become a doctor like himself. But it was Mr. Kamlesh Patel’s mother Hiraben who nurtured his own dream of becoming an industrialist and was instrumental in inspiring him to walk on his chosen path. In spite of belonging to a middle class family and growing up in a small town, Kamlesh Patel believed in himself and did not give up the pursuit of his dreams.

Leadership by Example - Overcoming the Odds

He completed BBA to take further his dream of becoming an industrialist and in 1994, ventured into ceramic industry with a capital investment of only 14 lacs by setting up a ceramic plant at Idar with capacity of producing 200 sqm per day.

However due to lack of technology, a substantial amount of whatever they produced turned out to be either broken or of lesser quality. At the time when Mr. Kamlesh Patel’s dream of AGL Tiles was taking shape, Gujarat was already the largest producer of tiles in India, yet with his strong conviction, and belief, Mr. Kamlesh Patel always dreamt big and set new benchmarks in ceramic industry.

Growth Leader

It was in the year 2000, when the brothers bought a used-machine from Germany with a capacity of 2000 sqm per day and thus established AGL Tiles. Driven by his vision and inspiring leadership, today AGL Tiles has 8 modern plants, a daily production capacity of more than 100,000 sq. m daily and the company has grown from 60 employees to 6000 employees to quickly establish itself as one of the promising leaders in the Indian ceramic industry.

With a strong belief in the power of design and innovation to set new benchmarks, Mr. Kamlesh Patel leads by example and therefore it is no wonder that AGL Tiles has in a short span, risen to become one of India’s largest groups with a global footprint across 50 countries and among the world’s 50 most profitable ceramic tile company.
